As part of the interdisciplinary research project "The brain - a social organ" the Berlin School of Mind and Brain hosts a three-day international conference on the foundations of social cognition. The following main questions will be addressed:
How can we best describe what social cognition consists in?
What is the Second Person Perspective? In what sense does it differ from the First and Third Person Perspective?
How do the different perspectives develop in early childhood? In which way are they related to each other?
What role does social interaction play for the development of perspective-taking?
Approaches from philosophy of mind, phenomenology, developmental psychology, clinical psychology, and the neurosciences will shed light on these and related questions.
